Anne welcomes us into Greystead, the Georgian-built church, coach house and rectory that her family has called home for over 75 years. As she shares its stories, the rich history of the estate begins to unfold, from its origins under the Greenwich Commissioners, all three buildings at Greystead were designed by Henry Hake Seward (c.1778–1848), a pupil of Sir John Soane. He was commissioned by the Greenwich Commissioners to create homes for retired Royal Navy Chaplains. Lovingly restored by Anne and her husband, both former art historians, the interiors are a bold yet elegant tribute to Georgian design, with every colour carefully chosen and every detail thoughtfully considered. There’s a tangible nostalgia here, shaped by generations of family life.
