Mel Bax has an ambition to always create spaces that authentically express the client’s unique style, life, and personality. Listening is a big part of the job. Working with her clients to really interrogate what they need and what it means to create their perfect home, inside and out, she then believes heavily in collaboration. Working alongside industry professionals and creatives she knows and trusts helps round out her eye-catching and modern designs. ‘Our foremost goal is to ensure our clients fall in love with their home,’ Mel says, and the proof is in the pudding. Using a blend of materials and colour palettes that mirror the positioning and personality of the home, her clients is always left with a space that feels entirely their own. After all, her practice evidently draws much inspiration from natural materials, layering of eras and a sensitivity to light and flow, resulting in spaces that feel particularly grounded. Whether restoring a rural farmhouse or designing a contemporary extension in the city, Mel’s architecture always begins with an understanding of how people live.
