Bloomsbury Revisited | Hand Painted Lampshades, Bases, Wallpapers and Cushions

We’re delighted to welcome Bloomsbury Revisited to The Finest Directory, our handpicked network of creatives whose work captures the feeling of home in all its rich and varied forms.

Founded by long-time friends Jane Howard and Jane McCall in 2020, Bloomsbury Revisited was born out of a shared passion for Charleston Farmhouse. Once home to members of the Bloomsbury Group—a circle of 20th century artists, writers and free-thinkers who came together to imagine society differently—Charleston quickly became a living, breathing work of art. Every surface of the house was covered in eclectic paintings and artwork, a sort of reaction against the turmoil that defined wartime Britain.

Today, Jane and Jane endeavor to keep this spirit alive, hand painting lampshades, wallpapers and cushions in patterns inspired by the Bloomsbury Group.

Wallpaper

‘Sussex Oak Fairground’ | £3.00 – £145.00

Sussex Oak came to life as Jane McCall was experimenting with optical illusions in pattern. The almost concertina wave of a stripe popular in 30’s and 40’s designs comes across in this more traditional design available in six colourways.

‘Gallops’ | £3.00 – £145.00

Gallops is an homage to a wonderful but anonymous print discovered whilst staying at a fabulous old manoir in SW France. Juxtaposing the horses and riders, trees and fences was fun and the shapes lent themselves to a figures of eight composition.

‘Naked Ladies’ | £3.00 – £145.00

Naked Ladies is a subject the brand often return to. There is something almost reassuring in a body of women, bare and confidently standing in rows and this design celebrates the versatility of female form and its natural beauty.
