Few interiors speak with the visual boldness and painterly confidence of Susi Bellamy’s. A fine artist turned designer, Susi brings the soul of the studio into the heart of the home, creating richly layered, joyfully maximalist pieces that blur the boundaries between art and interiors. Her signature marbled motifs, saturated colourways, and sacred geometries result in statement cushions, wallpapers, and fabrics that live anywhere but in the background.
Based in the North East and producing everything locally in the UK, Susi’s studio is grounded in both craftsmanship and visual storytelling. A six-year chapter in Florence instilled in her a deep love for Italian aesthetics and classical balance. She says; ‘There is something about the light in Tuscany, coupled with the food and wine which all added together to inspire so many of my paintings. I was also intrigued by the mesmeric swirls in the beautiful marbled papers so I took time to learn the craft to create my own unique designs.’
While a background in editorial fashion (with Condé Nast) lends her work a certain editorial polish, her years as a fashion editor have also given her an unusual approach to creating her homeware range. She looks to the worlds of fine art, fashion and design to understand the core trends and colour palettes of the moment. Each design is considered and the ranges are designed to be mixed-and-matched with each other or bought in sets for complete maximalist impact! From velvet cushions in lapis and ochre to her own large-scale artworks, Susi’s collections are created for those who want their homes to reflect a bold inner world. Her work invites a freedom of expression – layering colour and texture in a way that is sophisticated and infused with a sense of joyful opulence.
What sets her work apart isn’t just her fearless use of colour, but her commitment to local production and craftsmanship. Her brand is proudly made in England by an all-female team, and she continues to work closely with interior designers and private clients alike to create pieces that bring impact and individuality to a space.
With exclusive ranges created for Liberty of London, Heals and Fenwick, and recent features in The Sunday Times, Living Etc., The Observer Magazine and AD Italy, Susi is cementing her place as a leading voice in the modern maximalist movement. As she puts it: “It’s all about impact! I think the idea of luxury meaning sterile whites, greys and silvers is being challenged by eccentric brands like House of Hackney and Gucci Home who are offering something that is playful, premium and indulgent without losing a sense of fun and humour.” Making, designing and driving the creative direction of her brand has presented Susi with a challenging but rewarding task that continues to push her artistic practice in new and exciting directions. She never stands still!

We asked Susi what “home” means to her:
Home is where the heart is! A bit of a cliche but I love to create my nest around me with pops of colour that I love and also memories and pieces from our travels, especially the items we brought back from our time living in Florence. Our homes are full of art, I am an artist but I also love to showcase other artists work, ceramics, rugs and my growing collection of art, fashion and design books. I always think homes are a bit sterile without books and one day I would love to have a dedicated library. Home is definitely an extension of my creative expression – I love hanging art and creating ‘shelfscapes,’ and of course ‘sofascapes,’ with my cushions!
