Best known for his three-Michelin-starred omakase experience in New York, Chef Masa’s London debut promises a refined yet distinctly local twist on Japanese dining.

Expect signature dishes like toro tartare, Peking duck tacos, and shiso ink pasta – all crafted using seasonal British ingredients. Set within the reimagined former U.S. Embassy, the space will feature an omakase counter, bar, and elegant dining room – designed for everything from relaxed bites to special occasions. Launching mid-September, Tobi Masa is already shaping up to be one of the city’s most anticipated openings of the year.

Angela Hartnett at the Royal Opera House

Acclaimed chef Angela Hartnett will open her highly anticipated new restaurant on the fifth floor of the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden this September, taking over the former Piazza space with a relaxed yet refined Italian-inspired concept. Open daily for lunch and dinner and accessible to all (not just performance-goers!) the venue will feature ingredient-led dishes that reflect Hartnett’s signature style, alongside a Turin-style rooftop terrace bar offering light bites and sweeping West End views.

Created in partnership with hospitality group Company of Cooks, the restaurant blends high-quality seasonal produce with understated elegance in a setting that celebrates both food and culture. To mark the opening, Hartnett will host a live ‘Dish from Waitrose’ podcast event with Nick Grimshaw in the Royal Opera House auditorium on 17th September, just ahead of the official launch.

Labombe by Trivet

Fine-dining duo Jonny Lake and Isa Bal are set to launch a sophisticated spot at COMO Metropolitan on Old Park Lane, poised to be an elegant addition to London’s culinary scene. Building upon their two-Michelin-starred restaurant Trivet, the new venture will offer a wine-forward dining experience with a menu focused on European-style small plates and snacks. Think grilled duck heart skewers, king oyster gildas, and Trivet’s popular hot tongue bun, followed by starters such as gurnard crudo with orange ponzu, and larger plates like grilled monkfish and sweetbreads Grenobloise.

The kitchen will be led by Head Chef Evan Moore, formerly of The Fat Duck Group, while the drinks program will be overseen by Philipp Reinstaller, UK Sommelier of the Year 2024. The wine list will feature a selection of carefully curated wines, including rare and older vintages available by the glass. The cocktail menu will pay homage to the venue’s legacy as the Met Bar, a former hotspot for creatives in the 1990s. Opening on 16th September, Labombe by Trivet promises to deliver a distinctive and memorable dining experience in the heart of Mayfair.
